This piece was created by Francisco Negrin and Paul Griffiths using arias and ensembles Mozart wrote for singers to include in operas by other composers or for his own unfinished pieces. A couple of concert arias are used as well, but even those have text from opera libretti. In the pure 18th century tradition of Pasticcio, a new piece was born, entirely by Mozart. The performances at Glyndebourne were the first to happen there by an outside company and also the last in the original theatre before the new one was built…
