Francisco’s debut in Germany, and the first chance to work with his new Barcelona-based design team. Temistocle is the driest Seria style opera of the ones he had staged to date and those who saw it thought it was his most successful at extracting drama from where there seems to be none. German audiences loved the production’s unusual sensuality and elegance, while Toulouse rejected its modern edge. It was a luxury to be able to do the world premiere in modern times of a piece by a Bach, in Leipzig, and more so with Les Talens Lyriques in the pit.
