A coproduction between two totally different theatres (the new stage in Oslo and the old stage in Copenhagen) this show was quite a challenge stenographically, and also for the mezzo who had to learn how fly! The initial performances in Oslo were performed without a conductor, Bjarte Eike leading his wonderful Barkksolistene from his desk, as would have been the case in Handel’s time. In Copenhagen equally amazing Concerto Copenhagen was conducted from the harpsichord by Lars Ulrich Mortensen . Nicole Heaston was a revelation as Alcina in both houses.
