Mozart’s favourite opera and a piece Negrin had wished to stage from the beginning of his career. Innovative techniques permitting the video mapping of a moving performer were used to give life to Neptune. Focusing on the value of one human life in the context of war and natural catastrophes, the show used all the available machinery of the Aalto theatre to recreate an earthquake during the famous storm scene as well as starting with a huge tsunami effect that took place behind the iron curtain before the overture, the show then taking place in its devastation.
